Empowering the Parent Voice - A Collaborative Response to the Parent Survey Follow Up Session--May 23, DDSB Education Center, 6-8 p.m.
At Durham District School Board we are supportive of all families. We are inviting all parents who self identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender and have children in the Durham District School Board to join us for a follow up to our last evening of dialogue. LGBT parents of children in JK through Grade 12 welcome.
This year's Parent Reaching Out Grant is entitled: Empowering the Parent Voice - A Collaborative Response to the Parent Survey. Data from last year's Parent Survey indicated that social realities, in particular race, sexual orientation, and/or faith, may be barriers to parental engagement within the DDSB. This session will share and highlight data collected from DDSB parents. We will present next steps and ask for further parental input as we continue to develop a deeper understanding of some barriers experienced by the LGBTQ group and look at targeted ways of increasing desired parental involvement.
Please join us to meet other families like yours and to have the opportunity to share experiences and offer suggestions for continued growth to DDSB as a system.
Baby-sitting provided - Please RSVP if you will be bringing a child aged 3 or over.
